How to use 4

4 is presented in a dropper application and best used as a morning serum and evening massage oil, particularly designed to target deep vertical lines on the forehead and lips.

4 morning boost: After cleansing, apply one or two drops of 4 with your fingertips onto your face. Massage in using a gentle tapping technique. Follow with your day moisturiser.

4 evening massage: Use Vertical Line Massage Technique according to the instructions below on frown lines, lip lines or marionette [naso-labial] lines. Proven to reduce their appearance in our small consumer study [Learn more about the technique]

How 4 works

4 is a blend of three organic oils – jojoba, rose hip, camellia – and echium. These help to soothe, soften and nourish facial skin to reduce the visible signs of ageing.

4 has been formulated using a unique combination of 4 oils and 4 actives that renew the epidermis, by evening out tone and texture, and regenerate the dermis by promoting the production of structural proteins that help to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles and prevent skin sagging.

4 is a light, easily absorbed oil with a luxurious feel and a delicate orange and geranium scent.There is emerging evidence that regular massage enhances the effect of anti-ageing actives. I am the first to actively pursue the concept of Vertical Line Massage in anti-ageing. In tandem, 4 and Vertical Line Massage have been specifically designed to reduce the perception of vertical lines. We ran a short trial to showcase the results after two weeks of application.

4 Regenerative plant oils

Jojoba seed oil (Simmondsia chinensis)

Used by native Americans to treat sores and wounds. It is a light oil with excellent moisturising and soothing properties, similar to sebum.
Rose hip fruit oil* (Rosa Canina) is extracted from the seeds of a wild rose bush that grows in the cool and rainy Andes mountains. Rose hip fruit oil replenishes skin moisture by creating a protective barrier to help prevent dehydration. It was traditionally used to treat skin conditions [dermatitis, sunburn, scarring] and to repair mature and photo-aged skin.

Echium oil (RevitElix™)

A plant derived, rich source of omega 3, 6 & 9 essential fatty acids. The active has been proven to regenerate skin by increasing production of structural proteins [pro-collagen-1, fibrillin and decorin] and improving skin structure by reducing wrinkles and surface roughness. Camellia oil (Camellia oleifera)

Praised as the beauty secret of the Geishas, tea oil has been recognized for centuries in Eastern Asia for its highly restorative and rejuvenating effect on the skin. It is rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants.

Rose hip fruit oil* (Rosa Canina)

4 Technologically advanced active ingredients

The scientifically proven active ingredients are present in high concentrations to work together on the dermis and epidermis to deliver anti-ageing benefits, specifically skin renewal and regeneration.

Anti-Wrinkle Effect.

Marine micro-algae Cylindrotheca Fusiformis, sourced from the French Riviera, has a powerful anti-wrinkle effect and stimulates cellular proliferation in the dermis and production of structural proteins by fibroblasts. Clinically, it has been proven to visibly decrease wrinkle depth and volume and dramatically improve elasticity, hydration and softness of the skin.

Re-surfacing Vertical Lines

The self-regenerative stem cell technology, Swertiamarin, is extracted from Indian Gentian leaves [Swertia chirata] to stimulate epidermal proliferation, increase regeneration and promote dermal thickness. Anti-Sagging Effect

We predict that the Traditional Chinese Medicine plant Liquorice [Glycyrrhiza glabra] will be the latest ‘must have’ active ingredient to fight sagging skin, as shown in early Japanese research. Liquorice also has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that are beneficial for hyper-pigmented, sensitive skin and skin conditions [eczema and rosacea].
